John specialises in all aspects of intellectual property law with an emphasis on contentious work. John's practice covers all IP disciplines including patents, trade marks and passing off, copyright, industrial designs, confidential information, IT and publishing. John also has a prominent defamation practice and has particular expertise in domain name and "cybersquatting" disputes. His reported cases include acting successfully for Citigroup in a leading English decision on cybersquatting GPM v. Citigroup Inc. [2006] FSR 39. He has also acted in publishing litigation against the Duchess of York and advised the Official Solicitor to the Supreme Court on copyright matters. John is recognised as an IP expert in Legal 500 and was described in the Legal 500 2007 edition as "possessing in depth knowledge of trade mark law" and being "an effective advocate when negotiating with adversaries".
