12 June 2009
Denton Wilde Sapte has rounded off one of the
most successful years ever for its Technology, Media and Telecoms
team through the hire of leading outsourcing lawyer Amanda
Lewis.
Amanda, one of the country's best- known
outsourcing lawyers, joins the firm as a partner from Berwin
Leighton Paisner LLP, where, over the last 10 years, she has
built up a wealth of experience in major outsourcing projects for
clients in the financial services, infrastructure and public
sectors.
Amanda spent five years as senior legal
counsel to ICL Fujitsu and has established a considerable
reputation in the outsourcing industry through her work on landmark
deals and through her authorship of one of the leading texts on
outsourcing.
Denton Wilde Sapte's TMT practice revenue grew
12 per cent last financial year off the back of work for clients
including Nokia, Al Jazeera, Virgin, Palm and Vodafone. Highlights
from the team's work in the last year include working on key
outsourcing projects for Sainsbury's, Vodafone, the Ministry of
Defence and First Data.
The team has recently been short listed in The
Lawyer awards this year for TMT Team of the Year category for their
work on the East African Sub-Sea Cable System (EASSy) project, led
by Telecoms partner Rod Kirwan.
"We are delighted to welcome Amanda to our
Outsourcing team. We have had one of the leading practices in
this area for many years, and Amanda will help us to build on that
success. Our TMT practice has proved robust in the current
turbulent market conditions and we have seen growth across the
board, but especially in Outsourcing, as well as our IP, Telecoms
and Media practices," says TMT department head Catherine
Bingham.
"We have always had a strong focus on
outsourcing," adds TMT sector head Scott Singer. "This year we have
really reaped the benefits of our sector based strategy, winning
new instructions from clients in the financial services,
infrastructure, telecoms and energy fields, each looking for
specialist outsourcing knowledge married to a keen understanding of
their operating environments. Amanda shares our vision of
delivering a pragmatic and excellent service and is one of the very
few specialist outsourcing lawyers we felt would be able to help us
build on our existing success."
DWS' Outsourcing practice is one of the
largest in the City, consisting of seven core partners within the
TMT department, supported by more than a dozen senior associates
and associates. It is widely regarded as one of the country's
leading practices.
