Richard Barham is a partner in the Corporate
department of the firm's London office with particular experience
in mergers and acquisitions (both public and private), joint
ventures and privatisations. He also advises regularly on
establishing and reorganising companies and businesses (including
debt-equity swaps), public and private securities issues, other
commercial agreements and associated regulatory issues.
A large proportion of the transactions on
which Richard has advised have been in the transportation sector
(rail, road and air – including a three-year period working on the
UK rail privatisation) and the financial sector (such as leasing
business acquisitions, banking joint ventures and internal
reorganisations and credit card schemes). Most of the transactions
in which he has been involved have been international and, in
particular, he has acted on investments in the US and Africa, and
advised US businesses on inward investment into the UK and Europe.
He also advises public sector clients, including the UK
Government.
