Financial Markets Disputes
Advising on financial markets disputes is a crucial element of
the services to major financial sector clients. The Financial
Markets Disputes group, which includes four dedicated partners, has
long-standing experience of advising on a wide variety of complex
and high-profile cases.
Our broad focus means we are familiar with most of the causes of
disputes within the financial sector. This equips us to provide
swift and concise advice which is commercially and tactically
orientated, and can often defuse a difficult situation at an early
stage. Where proceedings are inevitable, we have the know-how to
deal with the complexities of modern litigation. We are also
experts in alternative dispute resolution techniques such as
mediation. Our team includes three advocates who regularly appear
in court on complex financial markets disputes. We provide a "one
stop shop" for clients, so that time and costs are kept to a
minimum. However, we also work with leading practitioners at the
commercial Bar and can readily advise on which barristers we think
would be right for a particular case.
Involving us in the early stages of financial transactions can
prevent problems arising later with drafting jurisdiction clauses,
service provisions and enforcement.
We work closely with our clients and non-contentious colleagues
to fully understand the business environment in which disputes
might arise. This, coupled with our expertise in financial
regulation and compliance, means we can advise clients effectively
on risk management. Through training sessions and help in
establishing systems and controls, we can help prevent disputes, as
well as managing them when they arise.
